My final project: Active Citizenship
Moving on to 2019, one of the lessons 2018’s midterms election taught us that the despite the generation gap between the old and the new, the diverse community we live in and the several issues we have seen over the years, they were all key to our active citizenship. Active citizenship is now deemed important more than ever because people are ready for getting involved in their local communities and democracy at all levels, from towns to cities to nationwide activity. Active citizenship can be as small as a campaign to clean up the street or as big as educating young people about democratic values, skills and participation. (Andrej Nosko, 2013).
I have lived in the States for almost two years now and there are a lot of things that bothers me more than ever because there has been many issues that needs to be addressed and handled. I came to the States with the vision that people were perfect and were happy. But stepping into the real world after high school, the bubble that I was in, thinking I was going to witness people with the best lives because they live in one of the best country in the world but the reality was that they were in fact, living in such despair that it breaks my heart. I have seen so much issues branching out from the very roots that bothers my people back home too – the government. But since the United States as a country is so huge, we have two governments to deal with and with that there are so many issues to look at.
